Nursery

Welcome to the Nursery!

Mrs Whewell and Mrs Webb would like to welcome you to the Nursery Class webpage. We will be showing you some of the exciting things the children are learning about. This term our topic is ‘I Am Special!’; we will be learning about ourselves and our families. During this term we will also enjoy learning about Autumn and festivals and events in Autumn e.g Diwali and Bonfire Night.

Come and have a look at what we have been up to in the Nursery…

Diwali in the Nursery

The children in the nursery have been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali; they have enjoyed making rangoli patterns, dressing up, bhangra dancing and eating very delicious chapattis.

First Term in the Nursery

The children have settled beautifully into the nursery and are enjoying all the different activities. They are growing in confidence and making lots of new friends. The children were a delight during our recent ‘Welcome Assembly’ with our Reception Class friends.

Read Write Inc

At Our Lady of the Assumption we follow the ‘Read Write Inc’ phonics scheme.  This leaflet explains how the scheme supports your children develop their early reading and writing skills.

Fun in the nursery during the Spring Term

During the Spring term the children in the nursery have enjoyed making lots of beautiful artwork. They also loved playing in the outdoor area.

Chinese New Year

The Nursery children enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year; they tasted Chinese food, made dragon pictures, learnt how to dragon dance and ate biscuits using chopsticks.  The nursery children also found out that they were born in the year of the sheep or the horse.

We had lots of fun in the Autumn term learning about Ourselves and making lots of new friends.
