Mrs Whewell and Mrs Webb would like to welcome you to the Nursery Class webpage. Welcome back to the Spring Term. This term our topic is called ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. During this topic we will be learning about stories about bears and real and fictitious bears. We have a new role play area of Goldilocks’ house.

Jingle bells jingle bells
We had great fun in the nursery during the Christmas celebrations. The children were beautiful stars during the EYFS/KS1 Nativity. The children also enjoyed a special visitor at the nursery Christmas party!
The children in the nursery have been learning about different types of vehicles. they have also investigated which shapes are the best for rolling. The children had fun pretending in the bu role-play area. We also learnt about different types of vehicles.
Diwali in the Nursery
The children in the nursery have been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali; they have enjoyed making rangoli patterns, dressing up, bhangra dancing and eating very delicious chapattis.
First Term in the Nursery
The children have settled beautifully into the nursery and are enjoying all the different activities. They are growing in confidence and making lots of new friends. The children were a delight during our recent ‘Welcome Assembly’ with our Reception Class friends.
Read Write Inc
At Our Lady of the Assumption we follow the ‘Read Write Inc’ phonics scheme. This leaflet explains how the scheme supports your children develop their early reading and writing skills.

Fun in the nursery during the Spring Term
During the Spring term the children in the nursery have enjoyed making lots of beautiful artwork. They also loved playing in the outdoor area.
Chinese New Year
The Nursery children enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year; they tasted Chinese food, made dragon pictures, learnt how to dragon dance and ate biscuits using chopsticks. The nursery children also found out that they were born in the year of the sheep or the horse.
We had lots of fun in the Autumn term learning about Ourselves and making lots of new friends.
